Illumination is a FREE community event that focuses on what we can do daily to support our mental health and well-being, especially for our youth! One way that we can do this is by finding and nurturing our "spark" - that thing that gives our lives meaning and purpose. Research has shown that when young people can identify their "spark" and have the support of caring adults in pursuing their sparks,
They have better grades and attendance at school,
They are more likely to be socially competent,
They volunteer in their community more often,
They have a sense of purpose and belonging, and
They are less likely to experience depressive symptoms.
A key learning point at Illumination is how to find our "spark" and what we need to do to nourish our spark - keeping our mental health strong and find a sense of purpose and belonging.

Meet Our Headline Performer
Madilyn Paige is an American pop singer-songwriter with an indie-electro-pop sound. Madilyn first burst into the music scene as a 16-year-old when she became a Season 6 contestant on “The Voice” in 2014. She began her journey long before being discovered on a national platform, though. Madilyn’s passion for singing originally started with her family: hearing her mother sing and play the piano along with grandpa regularly serenading at family gatherings. At age 11, Madilyn caught the bug when she performed at a church function.
From there, Madilyn sought out vocal coaches and competed at local singing competitions. It was a YouTube video from one of those performances that caught the eye of producers from The Voice. An invitation to audition alongside thousands of hopeful contestants eventually led to Madilyn breaking into the season’s top 20 and being mentored by Coldplay’s Chris Martin, Usher, Blake Shelton, and three-time Grammy Award winner Jill Scott.
Since “The Voice,” Madilyn has opened and headlined concerts in domestic and international venues, including opening for Jason Derulo, Rachel Platten, The American Authors, and David Archuleta. Additional performances as a featured guest artist include appearances with YouTube star Peter Hollens and “Songland” Season 2 contestant Ryan Innes. Notable collaborations include commercial recordings with David Archuleta (Seasons) and the Gardiner Sisters (Where Are You Now). Madilyn is also a sought after public speaker for youth groups in North America, Europe, and Asia.

Illumination Fireworks Display
This unique fireworks display, called a "pyromusical" is put together by members of the Utah Pyrotechnics Association (UPA). The UPA is a nonproift organization that helps promote, train, and teach its members and others how to safely participate in the amazing art of pyrotechnics. Club members build fireworks, put together amazing pyrotechnic displays, and help teach about the safe use of fireworks.
The Illumination fireworks display is designed by Kurtis Fredericks, a member of the UPA and also the Founder and President of North Davis Project Illumination.
"Fireworks are my spark," says Kurtis, "this is my way of putting into action what we learn at Illumination - to find your spark and develop it, and share it with the world."
The display takes hundreds of man hours to design, prepare product, and set up. Members of the UPA and other volunteers give of their time and equipment to bring this amazing fireworks display to Illumination.
