Originally from Louisiana, Nita grew up witnessing the impact that limited access to quality healthcare, addiction services, and social supports can have on individuals and families. These early experiences shaped her passion for advocacy, service, and community-based healing.
After moving to Utah in 2011, Nita began working in community-based social work roles, helping individuals navigate healthcare systems, access social services, and connect to essential resources. In 2024, she graduated from Salt Lake Community College and earned her Substance Use Disorder Counseling license. She currently works in the recovery field, supporting individuals as they heal, rebuild, and move toward lasting wellness.
Having grown up as a troubled youth, Nita is deeply passionate about volunteer work and being a positive role model for young people in her community. She is committed to breaking cycles of addiction, shame, and unmet social needs through compassion, education, and empowerment.
Outside of her professional work, Nita enjoys facilitating sound baths, exploring creative arts, and spending time with her husband of 13 years and their four children.
